Yesterday, officers on patrol in the City Centre identified and stopped a rider using an illegally adapted e-bike. Following checks, the vehicle was found to have been modified beyond legal limits and was delt with appropriately by officers.
We know that the misuse of e-bikes and e-scooters is growing concern for our communities. When these vehicles are unlawfully modified or used irresponsibly, they can pose a real risk to pedestrians, other road users, and the rider themselves. Our priority is keeping everyone safe. While legal and responsible use of e-bikes is perfectly acceptable, illegal adaptations and dangerous riding will not be tolerated.
β
If youβre riding: . Make sure your e-bike complies with UK regulations . Ride considerately and be mindful of others . Remember: privately owned e-scooters are not permitted for use on public roads or pavements
We will continue to take action against anti-social behaviour and unsafe use of electric vehicles across the city.
